How to maintain UPS battery?

11-08-2021

Since the UPS battery takes up a large proportion of the normal use of the UPS, it is particularly important for the majority of UPS power distributors and customers to keep and maintain the UPS battery. The following specifically introduces effective storage methods:

1. Please note that the temperature should not be lower than -20°C and exceed +40°C during storage.

2. When storing the battery, the battery must be kept in a fully charged state. As part of the capacity will be lost due to self-discharge during transportation or during the storage period, please recharge at any time during use to avoid the capacity reduction of the UPS battery due to long-term automatic discharge.

3. When storing for a long time, in order to make up for the self-discharge during storage, please make supplementary electricity.

4. It will have a great impact on battery life when stored under the condition of over 40℃, please avoid it if it can be avoided!

5. Please keep it in a dry, low temperature, well-ventilated place.

6. If the battery packaging is accidentally wetted by water during storage or transfer, the packaging carton should be removed immediately to prevent the carton wetted by water from becoming a conductor and causing the battery to discharge or burn the positive terminal (because water is conductive) .

7. Check the battery regularly. If you find any external pollution such as dust, please clean it with a cloth soaked in water or warm water. Do not use gasoline, banana water and other organic solvents or oils for cleaning (to avoid corrosion to the UPS battery packaging structure), and avoid using chemical fiber cloth.

8. During floating charge, when the total voltage of the battery or the indicator value of the voltmeter on the indicator plate deviates from the reference value shown in the table below (±0.05V/single cell), the cause should be investigated and dealt with.
